Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

5 days to go and we have completed the first leg of our journey. Overwhelmed by all the support and generosity you have all shown me. I won't let you down. :)

UPDATE: 10th May 2010

With less than 6 weeks to go, I reached my target of £1000 this weekend, which is just incredible. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, it means more than you will know. A special thank you goes to the Andover Wheelers who have all been amazing. I also decided to take this opportunity to set a new target. Fingers crossed. :)

The training is going really well, I have been very lucky with the weather. The wind has been my biggest problem so far.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My aunt Helen had a stroke 3 years ago, she was 46. It was a severe stroke that left her without speech and mobility of her right side and yes she was right handed. So with therapy and with so much help from the West Somerset Stroke Club she learnt to use her left hand and last year at she was able to produce crocheted Christmas gifts for her two children and all her many nephews and nieces. The time and dedication of all the helpers at West Somerset Stroke Club is amazing, they help so many like my aunt to lead a positive and fulfilling life as is possible.

At the Club not only craft or therapy sessions take place but throughout the year a huge range of other activities such as train outings, coach trips, mystery tours, lunches etc., everyone is catered for regardless of their disability - West Somerset Stroke Club is a truly wonderful organization.

So I have decided to take this opportunity to raise money for both the West Somerset Stroke Club and the Stroke Association. On 18th and 19th of June 2010 I will be taking part in the 300km long Vätternrundan in Sweden which is the largest recreational bicycle ride in the world.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Every penny raised will be split between the West Somerset Stroke Club and the Stroke Association.
