The reason I have chosen to raise money for Victim Support Scotland is to acknowledge the help and assistance the charity provided in the aftermath of the murder of my young cousin Neil Martin in 2006. Neil was a bright, intelligent young man of 20 with a great future ahead of him.
He was the victim of a knife attack after he asked a group of males to leave a party at my mum's house. I cannot describe in words how much Neil meant to me, my family and friends. After his murder Victim Support Scotland helped my aunt, uncle and cousin to seek to come to terms with Neil's death. The charity must be in a position to provide such help any time it is required and my fundraising venture is to help ensure that such services are avilable when required. However, I also intend to offer my services to the charity as a volunteer worker
