My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I would appreciate if you take a moment to read through a couple of notes about the charity I am supporting.

On 22nd April 2012, I will be running the London Marathon, to raise money for Amnesty International.

Amnesty was founded in 1961 and today campaigns worldwide against human rights abuses, in six key areas:

  • Women'schildren'sminorities' and indigenous rights
  • Ending torture
  • Abolition of the death penalty
  • Rights of refugees
  • Rights of prisoners of conscience
  • Protection of human dignity

Some of the specific aims of Amnesty are to eradicate wrongs that may be personally unfamiliar to many, but are a reality across the world, in societies without the privileges of civilian liberty that many of us assume every day.

These include:

to abolish the death penalty, end extra judicial executions and "disappearances," ensure prison conditions meet international human rights standards, ensure prompt and fair trial for all political prisoners, ensure free education to all children worldwide, decriminalise abortion, fight impunity from systems of justice, end the recruitment and use of child soldiers, free all prisoners of conscience, promote economic, social and cultural rights for marginalized communities, protect human rights defenders, promote religious tolerance, protect LGBT rights, stop torture and ill-treatment, stop unlawful killings in armed conflict, uphold the rights of refugeesmigrants, and asylum seekers, and protect human dignity.

Your help wouldn't be in donations alone, but through creating awareness which you may be able to share with others. I hope you will be able to support me in any way possible and your contributions are much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Kunaal

Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My updates 2

Just 10% to go to £2000, about one month left for those who pledged! Thanks to everyone so far, was well worth it although I'm still recovering!

After suffering a hamstring injury (I still don't know how) early on, thanks to your support I managed to carry on for 20miles at near snail's pace and finish! May not earn the extra donations from some of you but thanks for your generosity so far and keep it going!
