Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Many of you may be aware that on May 17th Rob Slowe, Steve Ridgley & Jay Guarnieri are taking up the challenge to ride a 280mile journey from London to Paris in 3 days. We do hope you can sponser us, even a £1 donation will help.

Why?

When things get tough we will all need something which will motivate us! Therefore we have decided to raise money for a charity very close to everyones hearts.

The Charity:

The Neonatal premature baby unit in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, Devon are a very special unit who continually strive to improve the care and services provided to the babies and their parents. At the Neonatal Unit, they care for babies who are born earlier than expected, who have become unwell or who need close observation. It aims to make their journey and that of the family, as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way. The love and care provided by the Care Team in the homely surroundings at NICU is as special and unique as the child.

One of the reasons behind this is that one of our tour team riders Rob Slowe's Godson (Joe) was born at 28 weeks (12 weeks early) and for the first two months of his life he fought with the help of that NICU for daily survival.

Not only did they save Joe’s life...the strength and support they gave to his Mum and Dad at this very difficult time was immense and is still remembered 10 years on.

With that in my mind, when our legs are aching and our heads are telling us to stop – just the thought of those children fighting for their lives will make us push hard and NOT give up!

The Challenge

We will be leaving early hours on the 17th May leaving the familiar sights of London, from Greenwich Park passing through England’s delightful Kent countryside, alongside the North Downs and to the White Cliffs of Dover.

Our ride through France takes us through the attractive Pas de Calais area, on fast open country roads. We cycle on through the picturesque Picardy countryside and on our approach to Paris, we eventually pass right beside the impressive Arc de Triomphe and swoop along the grand Champs Elysees to our finish point.

We do really hope that you will be able to sponsor us for this great cause and ensure that whatever you wish to give will really help push us on to complete this epic challenge all the way to Paris.

Your donations will really help those that need it most.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks for reading our page.

Rob, Steve & Jay
