Story
Myself and Phil McNee, two members of the Radiology department at Southampton General Hospital, love a physical challenge. In the past we’ve done the Ironman triathlon, ridden the length of the Pyrenees and run marathons. This year we have decided to do a big one, so at the end of March we are cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG).
The trip is in excess of 850 miles (depending on our navigation!) and we’re hoping for some unseasonably good weather to help us on our way. The aim is to complete the journey in just 8 days. That's a gruelling schedule of over 100 miles per day (compared to most LEJOG rides which take between 12 and 18 days) but all being well it should allow Phil to get home just before his wife gives birth to their 4th child.
Having decided to use the ride to raise funds for a local charity, I have chosen the Smile4Rich Appeal for the Wessex Neurological Centre to benefit and I would ask you please to be generous in your support for this very worthy cause.
Guess our mileage competition
If you make a pledge of £5 or more then please have a guess at the actual mileage we'll cover on the journey (to the nearest tenth of a mile). Please add your guess in the 'comments' field when completing your donation. The person whose guess is nearest to the final mileage will win a Philips DVP3020 DVD Player.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Smile4Rich will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
