7th-10th July - LEJOG-RIDE4ROYAL in memory of Lily-Mae Jeffries
What an impossible target to set - two riders - Lands End to John O Groats in a 72 hr relay ! Has to be a Royal Marine involved in this somewhere
STOP PRESS - In view of the tragic and sad loss of 5 yr old Lily-Mae, the daughter of John and Charlene Jeffries (one of our very own RM families), the guys have decided to dedicate this challenge to her memory.
Yes indeed, what a task. Take one serving Royal Marine, add his 16yr old nephew, two support crews headed by former RM's and a crazy challenge to ride Lands End to John O Groats in 72 hrs. This is a first - a non stop relay. Can they do it ? Yes they can !!!
Already training hard with 5.00am starts and MAMMOUTH bike riding sessions WO2 Dug Hickin RM from 40 Cdo RM and his nephew Konnor are working towards this event. Konnor maybe a young man but is a phenomenal demon on the bike, earning him the accolade of being the current 6th fastest in the whole of Southern England in dedicated Time Trials. That's a huge area from Cornwall, back across to the far side of Kent, up to the border of Suffolk and back across to the border of Wales. All this at 16yrs old !! Keep up Uncle Dug.
Please support the guys on this amazing journey and help them to raise £15k towards the refurb of the Families Centre at Norton Manor Camp.
