We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During 2010 to 2012 I unfortunately witnessed the impact of this terrible condition as it effected my Nan. Sadly she passed away late 2012, but is not forgotten.

Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research charity for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, their families and carers.

Why is dementia an important issue?

·         There are 750,000 people with dementia in the UK. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia and is more prevalent among women than men.

·         One in four people knows someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, and will be aware of the devastating impact it has on their lives.

Alzheimer's Society is a growing organisation for a growing issue

·         It is estimated that by 2025 there will be over a million people with dementia in the UK.

·         This will soar to 1.7 million people by 2050.

·         Because of this, Alzheimer's Society invest more than £1 million a year in research into the causes, cures and care for this condition.

Their services act as a lifeline to thousands of people

They provide:

·         A national helpline

·         Respite and day care services

·         Training and publications for health and care professionals

·         Biomedical and social research

·         Printed information and advice on all aspects of dementia and caring.

You may also know that I work for Lincolnshire Cooperative and our chosen Charity of the Year for 2014 is Alzheimer's Society. The funds raised by Lincolnshire Co-op will help to provide vital services for people in Lincolnshire and the surrounding area with dementia and their carers, ensuring they get the information and support they need to have the best possible quality of life. Money will be used towards reintroducing and maintaining support services in the area which were withdrawn previously due to a lack of funding available locally.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank You.
