My story

As some of you may already know, May 2011 will bring the birth of a new tradition in the London Market calendar, the 1 Liberty International Underwriters Charity Shield Game between the Financial Institutions Team v.s. the Commercial Directors & Officers Team. This fantastic sporting derby not only creates the opportunity to show which team will be the 1 to hold the Cup but also denote which market can raise the largest amount of money for a worthwhile charity.

WE BELIEVE THE F.I. TEAM CAN!!!

As an FI market person, you could:

  1. Donate, Donate, Donate, we can not encourage you enough to give, please be generous – We have set a target to raise:  £7,500 and we will only be able to reach this with your generosity and help. You can access our charity page directly on the following link: http://www.justgiving.com/LIU2011

  1. Take part!!!: -  Go on, put your name forward as a player. We have the best players and team, but as each of us will need to pay £25 sponsorship money to be allowed to play, we DO need as many players as we can get, you do not have to play the whole 90 minutes as we should get a few subs…but you will have the opportunity to make your own childhood dream come true and play on a professional football ground.

  1. Take part!!!: - buy a ticket for the event, - we have capacity for 500 people on the day and it would not be the same without you there!!! All the proceeds from ticket sales will go to “Make a Wish Foundation” – which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening illnesses – please follow the link for more info http://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/   The cost of ticket is a personal choice but should involve a minimum donation of £10.

  1. Take part!!! – Any ideas and help that you can give to raise sponsorship will be appreciated, you could volunteer to sell tickets for the event or for any of the raffles being organised, you could donate raffle prizes, shave your head, sell a member of the family, etc. the possibilities are endless!!

The challenge has been laid, who do you think is best, who will you support? are you going to sit around and allow the your D&O colleagues and friends brag for a whole 12 months???

We are calling on all our brokers and their companies to dig deep and help us win make the dream of a child come true, with your help we can do this and also become the winners of the 1 Liberty IU Charity Shield Cup Game. This is history in the making.

We have the football team to beat, the cheerleaders to envy and YOU, the most generous group of people in the market to raise money with…so let’s all get together and win that trophy.

The match will take place on the 19 May 2011 from 3:00 to 5:30 at the Valley – for details of how to get there try this link: http://www.charltonathletic-mad.co.uk/news/loadsngl.asp?cid=ED23 , on the day there will be a free bar and a number of charity related events and competitions; so come, join us for an afternoon of Football, a few drinks and help us reach our target.

Please extend the invite to participate to the people in your office and those brokers that I managed to miss from the list.

If you have any questions or simply would like to talk to us for details on how to help us achieve our target, please contact me or any of the EMEA / FI team, details below:
