David Utteridge and Tom Bransby-Zachary have entered the Lakeland 50, an Ultra mountain marathon in the Lake District covering 50 miles (80 kilometres) of beautiful, yet unforgiving terrain. http://www.lakeland100.com/the-lakeland-50.
Having seen family members and close friends suffer with heart disease we have consequently chosen to fundraise for The Basingstoke and Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Charity. (PLEASE READ ON)
In recognition of their great work we are putting ourselves through a gruelling 6 day a week training schedule including a long weekend run that increases by up to an hour almost every week - progress as follows:
Sunday 27th March - 2 hrs (we ran 14.5 miles)
Sunday 3rd April - 2 hrs (we ran 14.5 miles)
Sunday 10th April - 3 hrs (we ran 20.2 miles)
Sunday 17th April - 3.5 hrs (we ran 22.1 miles)
Sunday 24th April - 4 hrs 18m (we ran 26.2 miles)
Monday 2nd May - 4 hrs (we ran 24 miles)
Sunday 8th May - 4 hrs (we ran separately - ave' 25.5 miles)
Saturday 14th May - 4.5 hrs (we ran 27.5 miles)
Saturday 21st May - 4.5 hrs (we ran 27 miles)
Sunday 29th May - 5 hrs (we ran 28 miles - harder route!!)
Sunday 5th June - 5 hrs (30 miles - Tom stopped at 3hrs with injury)
Sunday 12th June - 5 hrs (26 miles - David only - Tom injured)
Sunday 19th June - FATHERS DAY REST! Hooray!
Saturday 25th June - 5 hrs (we ran 26 miles)
Saturday 2nd July - 6 hrs (we ran 32 miles)
Saturday 9th July - 7 hrs (we ran 35.5 miles)
Friday 15th July (Evening run) - 6 hrs (we ran 30 miles)
Saturday 24th July - 1 hr 10 mins (we ran 8 miles)
Saturday 30th July (Raceday) - 50 miles!
