Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and please do make a donation.
Unfortunately many young and vulnerable people are ending up on our streets, trapped in a vicious circle with no hope and no support. No wonder around one third of the 100,000 homeless young adults end up attempting suicide. Many have ended up on the street due to family breakdown, whilst a significant proportion have grown up in care for some period of their lives, so almost all have had little or no family stability during their lives. From the young age of 16 the state no longer has any legal responsibility for these vulnerable people and society expects them to fend for themselves, when frankly they are the least equipped to do so. Around 50% of young adults on our streets have no formal qualifications and no one to turn to. Without the support of charities like Action for Child they are unlikely to break the cycle so are consigned to homelessness and a life of despair.
Byte Night is a sleep out in support of Action for Children. Each year hundreds of individuals and teams from across the technology and business community spend a night exposed to the elements in a bid to raise sponsorship and awareness of Action for Children's work to help prevent youth homelessness. Action for Children helps to prevent youth homelessness through early intervention by ensuring that young people across the UK are given the support they need before it's too late.
