On September 6 Barry Hughes, Managing Director of Therapy Films, Pat Joseph, Chief Creative Officer of The Mill and Miles Pettit, Producer at The Mill London, embark on a great challenge; cycling the entire length of Britain from Lands End, the most south-westerly point, to John O’Groats, the most north easterly point of the British Isles.

Over two weeks they will cycle over 1000 miles and climb over 35,000 feet (more than the height of Everest). They will have muscle ache, chafing, numb hands, battle head on winds and somewhere in the middle of this desperate challenge Miles must get to a wedding on the Isle of Man.

This September marks 25 years since Pat was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia). As part of a clinical trial he was incredibly fortunate to be one of the first few patients to survive the then pioneering  Bone Marrow Transplant procedure. It was only down to the research, that was in its infancy at the time, his brother Richards  bone marrow and the dedication of the staff at the John Radcliff Hospital in Oxford that he survived.

Since then, the survival rate for  adult Leukaemia sufferers has increased but as with all Cancers, more funding for research is badly needed.

By cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, Pat, Barry and Miles will be raising money for the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital, where Pat was treated 25 years ago. All donations will be going to their Haematology Research Fund.

We’re aiming to raise a minimum of £30,000. This is a big target, especially in these difficult economic times, but your contribution will help continue the all important research that is saving leukaemia sufferers lives.

Please dig deep and give what you can!

Thanks

Pat, Miles and Barry
