Lands End to London 300 mile Cycle Ride · 4 September 2009

Isabel Hospice exists to journey alongside people during some of life's most difficult times. Offering expert compassionate care, advice and support those living with progressive, life-limiting illnesses. Our care is free of charge to those who need it, but it is not without cost.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We (Steve, Sid and Rob) will be cycling the 310 mile distance between Lands End and Cheshunt in 3.5 days starting on the 4th September.  Derek Maggs has very kindly volunteered to provide logistics support.

The route will include some challenging terrain, particularly at the start in Cornwall and Devon, the hills are notoriously steep and it is likely to be wet and windy!  The second and third days will be the longest, over 100 miles each day, and we have been putting in some serious training to get the legs up to the task.

We are raising money for the Isabel Hospice which is a local charity that has provided specialist care for local people and their families for over 20 years.  They aim to maximize the quality of life of those living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses through providing high quality specialist palliative care, including support for those who are in the terminal phase of their illness.  This also includes supporting the families and carers of patients and continuing such support into bereavement.  For every £1 spent, 86 pence goes directly on patient care.  The hospice has helped many people over the years, including relatives of some of our colleagues at Team Q.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We have set ourselves a tough challenge, the tight timescales and long hours in the saddle will be painful, so please dig deep and donate now!
