My story

In April I will be taking part in the London Marathon, I've always wanted to do it and managed to get a place the first time I entered the ballot! The longest race I've done before is 10k, so this is a big challenge but I am enjoying all the training with a little help from some friends. I've decided to take the opportunity to raise funds for 2 local childrens charitys, the funds will be split equally between Springfield School in Witney and ROSY in Oxford. I hope you'll agree they are both worth while charitys. Please help me raise lots of money and make the 26.2 miles well worth all the pain.  Thank you xx

From ROSY   http://www.rosy.org.uk/

Some children are born with life limiting conditions and others develop them early in their young lives. Most of these children can be nursed in the home but their families need help. ROSY pays the salaries of 10 respite nurses to help the families. We buy equipment they may need to make their lives a little more bearable. We have a support group for problem solving and friendship. All this has been achieved through the wonderful support we receive from people like Laonie Newton. We wish you well in your marathon running and thank you for thinking of ROSY. Our families are comforted in the knowledge that people do care about them.

 From Springfield School

Springfield School is delighted that Laonie has offered to jointly fundraise for us by running the London Marathon and we all wish her well with the training and the actual event. Our children are aged between 2 and 16 years old and have a range of severe and complex learning difficulties. We have a full and varied curriculum that offers experiences outside of the classroom such as using the local Leisure Centre; horse riding; visiting working farms; using the local community facilities and working in a Forest Schools environment. To enable this to happen, we currently have 3 minibuses. We have a supportive PTA that helps with the running costs of the minibuses but more funding is required to keep the minibuses on the road and continue these extremely valuable experiences. We are very grateful to Laonie for showing her support.
