Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Lap the Lough 2010.

While most sensible folk were relaxing over the August bank holiday weekend, I tackled the 140km cycle route around Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland.

I convinced Hannah, Gary, Stav & Ed to join me for the one day event which started and finished close to Hagan HQ in Portadown.  It was held on Sunday 29 August, just a few days after the 2nd anniversary of the death of my great friend Joanna Brown.  Despite a very wet and windy start, we all really enjoyed the day and got round in a little under 6 hours in the saddle.

Jo, who loved sport, died in a tragic accident when we were trekking in Siberia.  In her memory her family set up The Joanna Brown Trust to encourage involvement in sport at all levels.  The charity has already supported a number of projects for individuals and sports clubs in the UK and is currently funding the construction of a dormitory at an outdoor activities centre for kids in Mumbai.  More information about the charity and its work can be found on www.thejoannabrowntrust.org.

Hannah, Gary, Ed, Stav & I have great memories of cycle journeys with Jo.  We were thinking of her good humour and determination while struggling around the windy shores of the Lough and we toasted her with a Guinness or two afterwards!
