As you might know, I'm travelling to Kisumu in Kenya this summer with the Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP).The charity supports local sustainable projects to help vulnerable children including orphans and street children.

KOP runs a student program in which students from UK Universities visit the charity in Kisumu for two weeks and help out in any way possible with some of the projects. This can be in a school, feeding center or street children’s center, teaching children, playing with them, helping out a meal times, doing small construction jobs- anything useful!. We'll see first hand how the money we've raised is helping these children, and will hopefully make a small difference which contributes to a much larger impact on so many lives. I chose to join KOP because everyone involved is so passionate about this cause- we all really believe we can help in some way and improve the lives of these children. The aim of all the projects is sustainability and eventually self sufficiency, a really important goal which makes it possible for the work begun by the charity to be continued indefinitely by local people. After the summer trip I plan to set up a KOP student programme at my own university (UCL), so that we can send our own group of students to Kenya in 2014 and I can spread the KOP love even further! 

With KOP Imperial I've been raising money with bucket collects, valentine's day events and much more planned for the coming months. I would love to exceed my £800 target, and would be so grateful for any donations through this page. None of this money goes towards my expenses or any kind of administration- 100% goes directly to KOP!
