Story
Jess & I are taking part in this event. We are going to canoe the Tuesday & Wednesday ( the whole thing would ruin our relationship forever! ;)) Sarah & Richard are our friends who are simply amazing. I can't explain their story any better than Sarah does below. However, I watched a couple go through hell & back to come out the other side stronger, united & with two beautiful children & the memory of Amy who will always be with them. They are truly awesome people xx
Sarah's story
We and a load of our friends are going on an epic adventure to canoe 100 miles of the River Wye to raise money for Acorns children's hospice. They were there when we needed them most, and to be honest we can probably never thank them enough, but this will allow us to give a little back and enable them to help other families who find themselves where we found ourselves 10 years ago.
On 5 January 2005, our beautiful girl, Amy Lauren Cook was born, but from that moment we realised something wasn't right. By the time she was 4 months old, we were told she wouldn't live beyond 8 years old and her condition would remain undiagnosed until the day she died.
She was 3 when she left us, but the most positive thing from our experience was getting the chance to love her as long as we could, and meeting these amazing people who helped us when we thought we couldn't go on.
Please help us by giving a little to give a lot back. Every penny counts.
£21 will pay for a family splash session - a chance for parents to relax and connect with their child

£146 will pay for one day of care from a hospice nurse
£1,001 will pay for an Acorns family to receive the support of a dedicated community team worker for a year
£Priceless - the support and care provided when you feel like your heart is breaking and you can't go on.
Thank you.
