Story

A little update - On 18th April I ran the Chris Hoy half in 2:09:59. I was aiming for 2:15 so more than pleased with this time. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, it definitely helped during the run when the rain was coming down and the wind was making me so cold!! Now to train again for 2:05 in Glasgow.

Hello,

This year I have decided to take on the challenge of running two half marathons. Its just like a whole marathon, but one is in April and the other in September!!

The first will be the Chris Hoy Half Marathon in Edinburgh on 18th April and the second The Great Scottish Run on 5th September.

I am raising money for Alzheimer's Scotland as it is a charity that is close to my heart. In Scotland, between 58,000 and 65,000 people have dementia, the most common type of dementia being Alzheimer's disease, most common in older people but can affect people in their 40s or 50s or even younger.

One of the most common symptoms of dementia is memory loss. When someone has dementia, they may forget the names of family members, not just of strangers. They may burn pans because they have forgotten them or forget whether they have eaten lunch. They may repeat the same question again and again and not know they are doing it.

Alzheimer's Scotland provide services such as day centres, home support, carer education and a national dementia helpline. So please help Alzheimer's Scotland to provide these services to those with Alzheimer's, their families and friends by donating a little bit here.

Thanks for taking the time to donate!
