Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Where do I begin? My housemate Amy has got me involved in the charity she works for: Education For The Children Foundation. In January 2010 a group of us are taking annual leave & funding our flights & accomodation & climbing three volcanos in Guatemala (2 of which are active...arrrggghhh!!!) to raise money for the children of Guatemala. Our trek will last 3 days and we have each pledged to raise £2,000. We will be camping on the side of the volcanoes, dodging lava & treking to an altitude of nearly 4000 meters.
So here's why...In Guatemala, families have to pay for their children to go to school, which means the majority are not educated because their families are too poor to give their children the opportunity to be educated. 60% of Guatemalans live in abject poverty, the pictures on my site should speak for themselves... Every penny of your kind donations will go straight to the children, to give them a chance to break through the poverty cycle through education. Your money will go towards maintaining the school which has been set up by the Foundation, ensuring the children recieve meals and clean water to drink. For some of these children, the meal they receive at school is all they will eat that day. Please dig deep to give these children hope for a future.
Thank you so much,
Laura xxx
