Motivated by the strength and unfaltering sense of humour of our youngest daughter Poppy, we as a family are committed to support The Lily Foundation and help find a cure for Mitochondrial Disease.

Story

At Samsung we are united by a belief and common goal that we can #DoWhatYouCant.

In June 2019, along with 11 other DWYC'ers we are going for the biggest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc (4810m). This is a terrifying challenge, only 66% of people that undertake it succeed!

I'm not someone that has much experience of climbing big mountains! In fact I had never stepped foot on one until June this year when we climbed the 5 highest peaks in Uk&I in 47hrs, 40 mins. We raised in excess of £33k and this time round we are going for more.

We continue to raise funds and awareness for the Lily Foundation which is a charity very close to our hearts at Samsung, as one of our team members has a daughter suffering with Mitochondrial disease.

There is currently no cure for mitochondrial disease. However, important steps have been made to make diagnosis faster, easier and less invasive to the patient, and some promising research into effective treatments is underway. The more we learn about mitochondrial disease the closer we will be to one day finding a cure.

I will also be doing this in memory of Steve Roodhouse, a friend and ex employee of mine who unfortunately took his own life in November, leaving behind two beautiful young daughters Evie and Ada and his wife Caroline. Everything I raise over £2.5k will be going to CALM.

About CALM

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male.

Please give what you can and help us to fight against Mito And Male suicide.

Thanks, Laura x
