Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.

Story

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I did my first (and last) triathlon 9 years ago to raise money for another charity. I thought my participation in events to raise money was long gone and then this opportunity came up. As well as a much needed kick up the bum to do some exercise, even though I’m still rubbish at swimming and much less fit than last time, I really like what Nordoff Robbins does. Over the years I’ve seen that there are two main things connecting people around the world, irrespective of language, or any other thing that makes us all different - music and sport. They bring people together and you always seem to find something in common with someone you’ve never met before through one of them.

My son adores music, which we’ve discovered from Monkey Music classes and he never stops running. Nordoff Robbins brings music into people’s lives as therapy - it’s pretty cool.

I will be taking part in the triathlon alongside a team of amazing women, all of them connected to Monkey Music in some way. Please click on the team page below for more info! As a team we aim to raise £15,000 for Nordoff Robbins (a music therapy charity) I would be so grateful for any sponsorship, just £1 will make a difference.

- £5 will provide a tool for a non verbal child to be able to express themselves beyond words through something as simple as drumsticks

- £50 will pay for a child suffering from cancer to attend a music therapy session

- £250 will pay for a full day of music therapy in a dedicated centre
