Meningitis is a tragic disease which anyone can contract and the blood poisoning form of the disease can kill in a matter of hours. The Meningitis Research Foundation is a really worthwhile registered charity that fights death and disability from meningitis and associated infections by funding vital scientific research.
Since MRF was founded in 1989, they have awarded 133 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicemia. MRF also promotes education and awareness about meningitis to reduce death and disability, and gives support to people affected.
