The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.

Story

Over December 2010 I am taking on my biggest (most ridiculous) challenge yet to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa.

Kilimanjaro stands at over 19,000 feet and myself and my intrepid traveller friend Chris leave Leeds Bradford airport on the morning of the15th December arriving in Dar Es Salam in time to leave on expedition on the 20th December, allowing of course a few days in case our things don't quite make it! The aim is to climb the mountain over 8 days summiting on the 26th December.

For those that know me well no need to panic we are going with a reputable company and i haven't suddenly taken leave of my senses. Both Chris and myself have been training hard for the trip and although are slightly scared are very much looking forward to the adventure.

William's Syndrome is a charity close to mine and my family's heart and although I am funding the trip in its entirety on my own I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to raise some money for something I believe strongly in.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

Laura xx
