Hi!
Recently my friend Marcus, who is 20 years old, was diagnosed with the auto-immune disease Myasthenia Gravis. When I think of Marcus I think of such a bubbly, sporty chap with a cheeky grin and personality to match. He has so many friends and at his age should be enjoying himself as much as possible at university. This disease is now affecting everyday aspects of his life which is so hard to see.
I cannot identify with what Marcus is going through but want to support him in any way I can. Therefore I am embarrassingly going to be dressed up as Santa and running in the 5km Marlow Santa Fun Run on the 6th December! I hope I can raise a decent amount of money to give to the MGA charity for ongoing research.
Unfortunately, not a lot is known about Myasthenia Gravis - it is not known how people develop the disease and how or if it can be permanently cured. The charity is quite small and so needs our funding to help speed up the research process into finding a potential cure or finding ways to make life easier for the sufferers.
Thanks
Laura
