Those of you who know me, or anyone in my family, will know that a few months ago we discovered the extremely sad news that my Nan has some severe heart problems.

Unfortunately, for her and us, she has been deemed unfit for operating on which means there is little that can be done to 'fix' her.  This was devastating news for me as she has always been the 'life and soul' and never shown any signs of slowing down but has now had her life irrevocably changed.

To try and help others in similar conditions (and indeed prevent anyone reaching this stage) I have decided to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon to raise funds for British Heart Foundation.

Their mission statement is as follows:

Our mission is to play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death.

They aim to do this through:

• Research
• Information
• Campaigning
• Care
• Equality

But rely on donations to help them do this.

I ran the Bath Half Marathon last year and upon completing swore I would never run that distance again (I hated every minute of it) however having heard my Nan's diagnosis I want to do anything I can to raise money and prevent another family having to go through what we are.

If you can spare even just £1 it will help me get round that course and of course raise vital funds.
