Story
Hello!
We are walking 85 miles across England to raise money for rYico (http://www.ryico.org/). We are doing the Hadrian’s Wall walk from coast to coast on 9-13 August 2010 .
Our target is £1000 (and more if possible) to pay for a much needed additional staff member at rYico's Centre Marembo for 3 months. The monthly salary is £350 so every £20 donated will cover one day’s salary.
rYico is a Brighton-based charity that runs a project in Rwanda. Its main activities are Centre Marembo, an education and information centre for vulnerable youth, and Umugongo House, a project providing support and housing to 40 former street children. Laura has volunteered with rYico since 2007 and has recently become a trustee. Centre Marembo currently only has one paid member of staff – the Centre Manager, Nicolette. It is a real struggle to keep up with fundraising and admin activities. In order for support to Nicolette to be most effective the centre needs to recruit someone with the relevant experience and be able to pay them.Having two paid members of staff will mean they have more time to focus on getting future funding for the centre and for their salaries. So please give generously and think of all the blisters we are inflicting on ourselves! Thank you! Laura and Anna
