Story

When anyone finds out they are expecting another baby the excitement is hard to contain.... then when you find out you are expecting identical twins you just want to burst!! That’s exactly how Sam and I felt that day!

Then the rollercoaster began....

When I was around 16 weeks pregnant I was diagnosed with pre-stage TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) and never did I think it would take a hold of my babies. We had bi-weekly scans to monitor the growth and the amniotic fluid for each twin which were going really well and our confidence was growing.

When I was then around 18 weeks something just wasn’t right, I called the hospital and went in for a scan and on this day my world was turned upside down.... I had stage 2 TTTS and was referred to st Mikes in Bristol for a second opinion.
So Wednesday came around and off to Bristol we went ... Mr Denbow scanned me and our worst fears we confirmed... overnight the TTTS has worsened and I was at stage 3. We were sent home and told to come back the following day to have laser treatment which went really well Ann Mr Denbow was confident.

4 days later back to Bristol I went for another scan to see how our baby girls were doing. That’s when we received the news NO mother or father should hear... “there no heartbeat”. Our worlds were completely shattered, we were broken and no words can describe the emotional rollercoaster we were about to endure.

At 19 weeks and 4 days our precious baby girls entered this world sleeping and they were perfect! More than perfect because they were ours.

So we have decried the raise as much money as we possibly can to help fund the transformation of a new room, new equipment where needed and behind the scenes research to help other parents in our situation.

All money raised goes directly to the 'Twinkle Capella Research Fund'; In partnership with St Michael's Hospital, Bristol University and Oxford University, the Capella Foundation directly funds pioneering medical research projects.

As a small foundation based in Bristol, 100% of our fundraising goes directly to this incredibly important cause, to enable vital research to be undertaken in order to advance knowledge and understanding of methods of diagnosis and treatment of medical complications during pregnancy.
