We're running the British Military Fitness 10k challenge in aid of International Animal Rescue. And it’s not just running. There will be some hills, puddles and obstacles involved and probably a lot of mud too!
We've both been fundraising for International Animal Rescue for 2 years. Now it's time to put our money into our running socks and raise some much needed funds for this fantastic charity. The money will go towards ending the trade in dancing bears in once and for all. This trade is illegal and involves bears being poached from the wild as cubs, having their teeth and claws pulled out to render them defenceless and a hot poker pierced through their nose to force them to "dance". International Animal Rescue has saved 525 bears from this brutal existence and is within sight of bringing in a remaining 90 bears into their sanctuaries.
Additionally, International Animal Rescue have identified a number of orangutans in that need urgent rescue. The charity is in desperate need of funds to set up a transit sanctuary to rehabilitate these amazing creatures and get them back out into the wild. You can find out more about the bears, orangutans and other animals that International Animal Rescue help by visiting their webpage at http://www.internationalanimalrescue.org/
So please dig deep. This is a small but very effective charity where the money really does go straight to the cause. And we've never done a run like this before - so that’s got to be worth something!
