Story
In 2014, I will be flying out to Peru and trekking to Machu Picchu in aid of Live Life Then Give Life
In July 2012 my sister Kim had a life saving double lung transplant. Kim was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and has struggled immensely all her life. She had been on the waiting list for quite a while, was in a wheelchair and on oxygen 24/7. The doctors said time was ticking and she may only have months to live. Amazingly, she received that phone call and those new lungs. That was the scariest moment of my life, and I owe heartfelt thanks to the selfless donor and their family.
Without them, Kim wouldn't be here now. So this charity challenge is in recognition of their amazing selflessness and for signing up to the organ donor list, and also to promote the work of Live Life Then Give Life.
I will be training for many months to get fit, raising thousands of pounds for charity, and then undertaking a physically demanding challenge. I will be trekking up to 6-8 hours each day and for several days, with basic facilities and at high altitude. Temperatures could climb from -10oC to +30oC within 24 hours.
Live Life Then Give Life - their mission is to save and improve the lives of all those in need or receipt of organ and tissue transplants. The charity exists to improve education and awareness of organ donation and to fund projects that increase the numbers of successful transplants in the UK.
Without this charity, there would be fewer members on organ donor list, and there might never have been a set of new lungs for my sister.
This will be one of the toughest things I have ever done, and I need all your support. Please give as little or as much as you can and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
