Barry's Project 150 Greater Manchester Marathon · 6 April 2014 ·
Hey Guys,
Some would call me mental but I have decided to take part in Barry's Project 150 and run (or die trying) the Manchester Marathon.
This will be a huge challenge for me as currently my longest run is 10k so i will be putting a lot of time in to training in order to complete the 42.2k run!
‘Barry’s Project 150’s aim to raise £150,000 in aid of The Christie building a new high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) room, as part of the Young Oncology Unit, where teenagers and young adults under cancer treatment can stay in a safe environment and an extra bed is provided for a family member to stay with them.
I am running a marathon in April for the Christie NHS foundation trust, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. I have chosen to raise money for this charity because my family has been closely affected by cancer when we lost my grandad in 2002 and my grandma in 2007. Recently a close family friend was treated at Christies so the charity is of great importance to me.
All donations will make a difference to someone living with cancer.
Donations will go to The Christie Charity and further information about the event can be found at http://www.christie.nhs.uk/the-christie-charity/news-press-office/2013/220413.aspx
Best start training!!! 🏃👍
