The Jigsaw Trust is a registered Charity set up in 1999 by a group of local parents with autistic children. Through the Trust, The Jigsaw CABAS® School opened in September 1999 with 6 pupils. It is registered as an independent day school for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. it is one of a few schools in the UK offering a structured programme of intensive intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
The school has now expanded and provides a primary and secondary resource for up to 40 pupils from 5 through to 19 years of age. The school has developed links with the local authorities and other local provision, and continues to develop its broad curriculum and develop strategies for inclusion.
Lauren has been at Jigsaw School for just over 2 years and is currently the lead teacher in Class 4. This is Lauren's first half marathon and so far training is going well - her parents's dogs have even benefitted from a few long runs! She hopes to complete the 13.2 long miles in 2 hours 10 minutes but also says she'd be happy just to get to the end!
Jayne has been at Jigsaw School since January of this year and is enjoying working with Lauren in Class 4. She was pleased to complete the Barn's Green Half Marathon last year and was even more pleased that she wasn't the last one in!
Kim and Lauren have been friends since sixth form, many years ago and by some twist of fate, having lived apart for 4 years due to uni, are now living in the same town again! Kim doesn't work for Jigsaw but is keen to raise money for the cause. Kim ran the bath half marathon last year and is hoping to beat her time this year coming by completing the run in less than 2 hours.
Both Lauren, Kim and Jayne would be really grateful for donations for such a worthy cause as Jigsaw School - please look on the website, www.jigsawschool.co.uk to see the work they do.
Thank you
