The Charity we have chosen to support is one which I work closely with and am passionate about.  One to One Childrens Fund is an inspirational charity run by a friend of mine in the UK, it focuses on bettering and empowering the lives of Children in war torn and depreived communities.  Specifically we are raising Funds for Kick Aids an inspirational program which is taking place in South Africa in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup.  It ties into Dad's passion for football whilst highlighting his ongoing dedication and commitment to charitable work and the less fortunate.

The Kick Aids Project

Kick AIDS” is an exciting initiative of the One to One Children’s Fund (One to One), harnessing Africa’s passion for football to offer HIV awareness, raising life skills training and counselling at football tournaments and events in South Africa.

One to One works at a grassroots level, in partnership with local communities, professional services and volunteers.  Programmes are created to empower local people, contribute to long term sustainability and introduce new ways of improving the welfare of children and families.

Football tournaments are run alongside AIDS awareness and treatment clinics to attract children and their families.  This facilitates HIV education, testing and treatment for those children in exposed regions and age groups.  These facilities and support networks are maintained after the conclusion of these tournaments to ensure that the affected children and their families continue to receive the tangible benefits of the program long after the World Cup has left South Africa.

We are seeking to fund a Kick Aids project in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, a host city of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.  This project will have the participation of up to 2,000 children and their families from areas surrounding Port Elizabeth.   At the tournament venue facilities will be available for each child and their families.  Facilities include HIV testing, HIV medications, HIV educational material, counselling and sustainable assistance for affected families.  We hope to report back to all of you with information on how the tournament is progressing and the effects that it has had within these communities.

So please dig deep and donate now.  For any further information please contact Laurie directly at lmarshbaum@acheroncapital.com
