Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page, a quick and easy way to donate to the charity, “Children With Leukaemia”, for which we are to run this year’s 10 miles Great South Run in Portsmouth.

Notre fille Emma est atteinte de Leucémie Aigue Lymphoblastique (LAL pre-LB). Elle a été diagnostiquée le 27 août 2010 et suit depuis une chimiothérapie qui devrait durer deux années pour se terminer en octobre 2012.

On August 27^th, our daughter Emma was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL pre-LB), the most common form of cancer in children. She has now started a 2-year chemotherapy which should hopefully end in October 2012.

Si aujourd’hui Emma a de fortes chances d’en guérir, c’est grâce à la recherche scientifique et au travail d’équipes médicales spécialisées déterminées à faire évoluer les traitements. Cette recherche coûte cher et est aujourd’hui financée principalement par des associations caritatives.

Today Emma has a very good prognosis, thanks to continuous therapeutic research and the hard work of the medical teams who have dedicated themselves to improve treatments over the years. But all of this is expensive and most of the funding comes from charities.

C’est pourquoi le 24 octobre prochain nous avons décidé - François, le parrain d’Emma, Michael, son oncle, et Laurent, son père, de courir les 10 miles (ie 16km) de Portsmouth (BUPA’s Great South Run) pour lever de l’argent pour l’association « Children With Leukaemia ».  Cette association a pour but de financer la recherche sur les différentes formes de leucémie (la forme de cancer la plus courante chez l’enfant), mais aussi la rénovation de services pédiatriques et l’aide aux familles.

That is why Emma’s godfather, François, her uncle, Michael, and her dad, Laurent, have decided to participate in the 10 miles Great South Run next October 24th and to run for “Children With Leukaemia”, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to funding research into treatment, causes and prevention of childhood leukaemia and to funding welfare projects to help minimise the stress of treatment.
