Hi,   As you may know, myself and 5 friends are doing a sponsored cycle next weekend on the Coast-to-Coast route from one side of England to the other, Whitehaven (West Coast) - Sunderland (East Coast).  Starting and finishing in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, our total ride will be approx 180 miles with the C2C section taking 2.5 days and covering 133 miles.  Hills, hills and more hills will be the theme of the weekend, as we cross the Lake District and The Pennines.  The highest point, Black Hill in the Pennines is 1998ft above sea level, and there are plenty of ups and downs along the way!   We are riding for a selection of charities, mine being the Greenacres Junior Academy Project in Uganda.    The Greenacres Junior Academy was set up by one of our friends at Citi Bank who works on the reception at the London office.  For the past nine years he has been working to build a boarding school able to accommodate 340 students in Uganda. The community in which the school is built has emotional ties for him as it was here that he was welcomed and nurtured as a young boy, having fled his native Sudan for political reasons.  He has dedicated the last nine years co-ordinating and managing the project, as well as contributing over £150,000 of his own money, often to the detriment of his own family.   This guy is not a “fat cat banker” as the media love to portray anyone who works for a bank these days – quite the opposite infact - and his story if truly amazing.   More details of the Acadamy are available at www.greenacreseducationtrust.co.uk/about-us.php Thank you for your support.
