Story
Laurie Butler was our son and was born in August 2003. For the first nine months of his life Laurie was a healthy and happy baby. In June 2004, we had the shock of discovering that he was suffering from a very rare children's cancer called neuroblastoma.
Laurie spent the next five and a half months undergoing very aggressive treatment for this cancer and despite showing positive signs that he could fight it, he died very suddenly and unexpectedly during an operation to remove the tumour. He was aged just fourteen months old.
Unfortunately we are not the only family who are going to have to undergo this ordeal and because of neuroblastoma's comparative rarity compared to other illnesses and diseases, it is hardly heard of or understood.
Even though life goes on, we never want to forget what Laurie endured and what other families and their children are also enduring right now.
One way of helping is to help us to raise money for the Neuroblastoma Society whose aims are to raise funds for research into neuroblastoma and to offer information and support for anyone affected by it.
Please help us to make a big contribution to fighting this awful disease and helping those families who are suffering from it. Laurie never really stopped smiling all through his treatment and we are sure that he would be very happy to know that what happened to him is having such a positive effect on others.
We would like to thank-you for your help and support.
