What can I say? It all started as a joke (some still believe it is!)… Louise was on a mission to get me fit – after listing all the activities she wanted me to do, I (with glass of wine in hand it must be said) asked if she wanted me “to do the ****** New York Marathon”…
Unfortunately, Louise doesn’t seem to understand sarcasm; she leapt on the idea with much enthusiasm and, before I knew it, I’d been signed up! Admittedly, I’m not going to be running the distance - I’ll leave all that malarkey to Louise… I will be going at a more dignified pace; walking, jogging, crawling to the end!
But… I’m not doing this just for fun(!)… I want to relieve you of your hard-earned cash in aid of the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA). They are a fantastic local charity, relying totally on donations to keep going and save lives. And, unlike many other charity marathons, ALL of the money goes to the NWAA – you won’t be paying for our flights, accommodation, spa treatments, shopping sprees or anything else we may get up to in the Big Apple!

Established in 1999 the Air Ambulance has been flying life saving missions throughout the region from its operational base at for the past nine years.
Flying seven days a week, 365 days a year our vital life saving service covers 5,500 square miles and a residential population of seven million people yet we receive no central government or lottery funding. It costs £3.5 million per year to maintain both aircraft, all of which is generously donated by members of the public.
You can see what a good cause this is, and you can see I obviously think so if I’m crazy enough to enter the New York Marathon, so…
