On Friday 18th September 2009 I will literally become shark bait (though I'm told they'll have been fed)!
I am sooo excited by this challenge... right now at least whilst I'm sitting in the comfort of my nice, safe (sometimes!) office I am excited.... I'm not sure what I'll be like when I enter the water!
The inspiration behind this craziness is The Pasque Charity who operate two local hospices (The Pasque Adult Hospice and Keech Cottage Children's Hospice) providing specialist palliative care for adults and children with life-limiting conditions. Their mission is to provide the best quality of life for their patients and families as they prepare for a dignified death - the care they provide is absolutely essential and can help make the best of extremely sad times. Most of us have visited a relative or friend in a hospice and realise the amazing care and work that goes on behind the scenes.
Operating the two hospice services will cost £5 million this year and, as an independent charity, they rely on the generosity of the local community to help them achieve this.
