We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When my uncle lost his marbles, he was found by a taxi driver army-crawling across the road with his face blacked up, convinced he was back behind enemy lines in WW2. He was placed in a care home for his own safety, the kind with doors that lock by keypad from the outside - and within a few days had managed to hotwire the lock from the inside, set off the fire alarms and escape - he was eventually found trying to climb the fence out.

We were relatively lucky in that the story still raises a smile. Most aren't so lucky, and have to watch their loved ones slowly lose pieces of themselves until there is nothing left of the person they knew but a shell. Harder yet, there is as yet no cure for dementia.

So, if you've got a spare couple of pennies, doesn't have to be a lot, please help them out with the research they fund and the care they provide to both those suffering dementia and the loved ones they will be leaving behind.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
