Thanks for visiting my page. As you may know I volunteered in Ecuador helping street working children and their families living in the slums of Guayaquil in 2011/12. The children and families I worked with literally have nothing, none of them have a toilet or shower and they even struggle to have 3 small meals everyday. Sadly poverty is very high in Guayaquil and many children have to work on the streets - a shocking situation this day in age! School is never free in Ecuador and many families cannot afford to send their children to school.   I really believe in what Juconi does and saw the amazing benefits they make to the lives of disadvantaged street working children and their families. As well as helping physically on the ground in Ecuador I would love to raise as much money as possible to help the families receive food baskets, health care, hygiene packs, safer electricity supplies in their homes and help towards the cost of school fees etc. Please could you help by donating anything you can (don’t forget to add gift aid if you’re eligible to). For example £5 buys soap, shampoo and toothpaste, £15 buys a nutritious weekly lunchbox that a child can eat whilst at school, £30 provides a weekly food basket for the family, £50 pays for a school uniform and supplies, £75 covers school fees for a whole year and £180 sponsors a child for 12 months.    'I DID IT :) I completed my first challenge on Christmas day 2011 by trekking 43KM to Machu Picchu over 4 days along the original Inka trail. I reached a very cold height of 4215m above sea level and was in the first 10 people to arrive on Christmas morning at the ruins. I only had two bad asthma attacks, it felt so amazing to complete it :) now I can never walk up to Oxton village and complain about the hill again! Please note: I covered all the costs to do the trek and none of the money raised went towards the activity. I am raising money solely for Juconi. Juconi works in conjunction with ICT who handles and passes UK donations to them.'    ... I'm starting to plan the next challenge and even more people are helping me to raise funds for Juconi by running small events like craft and art sales, jam and cake sales, reducing treats like a bottle of wine a week and putting the £5 they’re saving away to donate at the end of the month etc.      Please let anyone know about this link who you think may be interested in donating or you could even fundraise some money for Juconi yourself.
