Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Friday 4th October, I will be sleeping on the streets of Leeds with my lovely DMW Group work colleagues and other supporters of this great charity to raise funds and awareness of the harsh reality of youth homelessness.
This will be an eye-opening experience to see the harsh reality of how some people have to live. I am extremely lucky as I will be back in my bed on Saturday and this is sadly a luxury thousands of young people do not have.
So please dig deep and help out this amazing cause! :)
Where does your money go?
All raised funds will go directly to Action for Children, a brilliant charity operating across all of the UK. 87p of every £1 gets spent directly on children.
What are the facts around youth homelessness?
Every year in the UK 126,000 children find themselves facing homelessness, and that's just not ok. For numerous reasons, this number has been on the rise over the last 10 years, and some of
the facts are awful to think about, for example:
51 percent of homeless youth are unsheltered — sleeping outside, in a car, or some place not meant for human habitation.
One easy way to help is to fund the organisations that are tackling youth homelessness either by directly supporting young people, or by dealing with these issues at their root cause, which is often family conflict, poverty and housing insecurity, racial disparities, and mental health and substance use disorders.
