Balls to Poverty is a charity based in South Nottingham College which works with young people both in Nottingham and South Africa. Every year, students travel to South Africa to distribute footballs and rugby balls in townships, experiencing life in a different perspective.

Story

Hi,
My name is Leanne Branson, I am 18 years old and from Nottingham. I have been given an amazing oppertunity of going to South Africa in April 2011 for a project called 'Balls to Poverty' which is based at South Nottingham College.

The 'Balls to Poverty' Project has been around for 7 years now and it has reached out to so many children across South Africa and Nottingham. When we are in South Africa we will visit a number of townships and give out coaching sessions for football and rugby. We will also help out within the townships such as previous years students have helped to paint schools and build football pitches.

The money that you donate will go straight to the 'Balls to Poverty' project, this money will go towards manufacturing brand new footballs and rugby balls which will then be distrubuted out to the children of South Africa.

when we come back from South Africa, we will be visiting many schools across Nottingham, to give out coaching sesions for football and rugby and we will also be talking about the things we experienced in South Africa.
