Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In April 1987 I ran the first children's race at the London Marathon, aged 15, and loved every minute of it. Ever since then I have vowed to do the BIG ONE and when the opportunity came to run it for the Lake District Calvert Trust I knew I had to give it a go. Having started running again 18 months ago with the encouragement of good friends I started to run with Zach in the buggy. At that point I could only run for about a minute without stopping! I kept on going, undertaking the 10 in 10 last year, tackling 10 mountain peaks in 10 hours for MS research and really enjoying it. So now I'm going for it, slowly but surely, building the miles steadily. Getting out there everyday is hard going and it's at this point everyday I remember my motivation for doing this. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides adventurous activity experiences for people with disabilities and their families, carers and friends. A visit to the Calvert Trust is as challenging as it is fun, the focus being 'It's what you CAN do that counts.' This is something I'm hanging onto!

The people who work at the Lake District Calvert Trust are truly incredible. Their enthusiasm, support for others, willingness to try a new way to find a way forward for every individual and committment to success is a true inspiration. This run is as much out of admiration and respect for them as it is for the many visitors who come and stay each year.

So please find a way to support me in running the London Marathon in 2012, every little helps! My facebook page will keep you up to date with how the training and fundraising are going and your support in following me will be really welcome.

So....on track it would seem having completed my first ever half marathon on 26th February at the Great North West Half in Blackpool. I was very nervous but really enjoyed it when I got going and wasn't completely exhausted at the end! Only another 13.1 miles more to add to that...
