Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Great Scottish Run 10K to raise funds for Brightest Star charity which works to support bereaved parents.
My daughter Melissa was killed in a road accident on Renfrew Road, in Paisley on the sunny afternoon of 12th June 2005 aged just 18 months. Melissa died instantly from a broken neck after a speeding driver hit her pram, throwing her appox 30 meteres.
Raising funds in her memory for a charity that works to help parents like myself is a fitting tribute to my daughter and all the other children, of any age, taken too soon.
This is the first time Ive ever put myself out there like this. Melissa was my first and only child at the time of this accident, this will be much harder for me emotionally than it ever will be physically. I rarely even talk about my daughter as for me, Melissa's death changed everything and time has changed nothing.
When your child dies there is people around you alot, looking after you, feeding you, fussing about everything, telling you what needs to be done next and then there is the dreaded funeral. But after you say goodbye what is next? people go back to their lives, to their families and to their children and you have nothing to go back to. So what do you do? Noone understands how you feel and you are lost, alone and drowning in your choked back tears.
That is why a charity like Brightest Star is so important. Brightest Star works to support bereaved parents. The people involved in this charity know how you feel. Bereaved parents can have an understanding supportive shoulder to cry on.
Even a small amount will be greatly appreciated and please remember to gift aid your donation. It doesnt cost you anything! Just tick the box and the charity will receive the money.
Wish me luck!
