Fundraising for Prospect Hospice
Why would a 21(ish) stone, 41 year old man plan to walk the Thames Path, a 184 mile walk, in just over one week. Well, my friend Martin Larner and I are walking from back to the source, near Kemble in memory of Martin’s wife Nenita, who sadly passed away in January aged 35.
Nenita was born in the and trained to be a nurse. In 2001 she moved to the and converted her medical qualifications so that she could work here. She spent many happy years working at the Bristol Royal Infirmary but in January 2007 she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Over the intervening years, Nenita lived life to the full, managing to gain her BSc in critical care, being promoted to senior staff nurse and running the Bristol half marathon only 4 months before she lost her battle, during her 4th operation. Nenita was the most positive and caring person you could imagine meeting and not once did she complain or feel sorry for herself. It was the example she set during her battle with this awful disease that has lead us take up this crazy challenge starting on August 28th and finishing in deepest Gloucestershire on September 5th. So, thank you for sponsoring me, and feel free to join for part of the walk if you wish Thanks again
