Whether facing cancer, stroke, heart disease or have a sick child or baby, we want to provide the very best care. A variety of ground breaking equipment and treatments are now in place because of donations kindly made by the public, much more than our NHS budget can provide. Thank you

Story

UPDATE:  We have been quite lazy over the last few years with pur fundraising for Little Buds, so we are upping our game! In July 2020 we had our third son, Fletcher who also needed care from SCBU (luckily our middle son Lennon didn't need any SCBU magic) and we are forever grateful for their help.

After giving birth to our son Harris prematurely at 32 weeks pregnant in August 2011, he needed to stay in Darent Valley hospital in Dartford for the first 3 weeks of his life. Due to the remarkable care they gave to my son, and peace of mind they gave to myself and my fiancé Michael, We are trying to raise funds for the hospital special care baby unit (SCBU) and for the charity fund that supports the unit, Little Buds. It can cost £800 per day to look after one baby in SCBU so we are aiming to raise £16,800 over the next few years, through a variety of events, as this is how much it could have cost to look after our son.

Past events:

Instead of birthday presents or cards, I held a fundraising party on the 15th April 2012 to raise as much money as possible to support Little Buds! This included a raffle, cake sales, and lots of fun for kids – facepainting, hook a duck, name the teddy, and lots more!

We have also taken part in the Nike 10k London run on the 8th of July 2012, which we both completed in 1 hour and 18 minutes, despite me getting a stich after 1k, and not being able to shift it!

We held a cake sale in our street during the Queen's Jubilee in 2012, and our wonderful neighbours and visitors to our street helped us to raise £160.30 in two hours in the rain!

We took part in the British 10k London run again in 2013, with Michael completing it in 54 minutes, and myself in 1 hour 13 minutes, so we both beat our time from the previous year!

I completed my first half marathon on the 8th September 2013, the Run to The Beat, which I was very proud of, even though it took me 2 hours 45 minutes to finish!

We held a charity evening at Crayford Greyhound track on 18th October 2013, which was great fun, and we even won a bottle of champagne!

I have also done various cake sales, quiz sheets and collections at work, to support this worthy cause.

Michael did the British 10k in 2014 without me as I was 7 months pregnant with Harris' baby brother Lennon but we both did it in 2015 and 2016, and are training to do it again this year.

We held a few quiz nights, which everyone seemed to enjoy!

Our Easter funday on mo day 3rd April 2017 also raised £27.50, thank you so much for your generosity!!
