Leigh's Kilimanjaro Trek for 'Mind'

Bangor does Mount Kilimanjaro · 2 September 2019 ·
I am currently a first year BSc Geography student at Bangor University. On the 2nd of September 2019, I will be taking part in climbing Kilimanjaro for the charity 'Mind'. Over six days, I will be climbing a total of 5895m above sea level to the summit. The highest climb I have ever done previously is Snowdon at only 1085m above sea level! This will be a huge challenge for me and therefore I massively appreciate everybody's support! I am doing the challenge to raise money for the charity 'Mind' as they do incredible work for people with mental health issues and ensure no one has to deal with their troubles alone.
'Mind' are the biggest mental health charity across England and Wales. They do all kinds of work from taking phone calls from people with depression, anxiety etc and giving them someone to talk to as well as offering help for them to over come their issues, to training people to give talks in local schools and communities go raise awareness for mental health issues and ways to help with this. The charity have a service called 'Local Minds' .Their services include talking therapies, crisis helplines, drop-in centers, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending. They have a 'Legal Line' which provides information on mental health related law to the public, services users, family members/carers, mental health professionals and mental health advocates. They also have a website which gives lots of advice and guidance. This work is really vital as unfortunately 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at any given time in a year. Currently not everyone who tries to use Minds services can get through. The money I am trying to raise will allow them to help more people who need to use their services. Just £7 will allow them to answer a phone call to someone who desperately needs to talk to a trained professional or even just hear a friendly unbiased voice.
Thank you for all your help! Wish me luck!!
