Dear Friends and Family,
While you will read more about WaterAid and the work they do below, I just want to share a few lines on my personal commitment to this.
Many of you know my love for the nature, outdoors and community work from my younger days as a Boy Scout as well as many other roles as an adult...
So this was a no ‘brainier’ when I first signed up for Gobi Desert challenge two years ago... I jumped on the opportunity to do something I love, while helping a worthwhile cause around the world. So here I am, now in Iceland today ( 3rd August 2018) leaving to Greenland shortly to start trekking 100km across the next 5days, carrying approximately 15+ kg of tent and equipment. Not getting any younger now, so need all your encouragement and support, which will keep me going.
My biggest inspiration now is the support of my family! With all the logistical challenges I had to face this time around, the moral support from my lovely wife and my big boy ‘Kevin’ has just kept me going this far.. The two little angels too, have been doing their baby bits, I will share a picture of the bathtub toy, Kate wanted me to take along.. so rubber duck is also taking the trek with me.
So read more on the cause below, links WaterAid will take you to their work...
Thank you, for being so supportive family and friends.
With greeting from the Arctic,
Leonard.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive. It sounds normal and it should be.
