Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page in support of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society!
Human culture, from ancient Greek mythology to the present day, is full of tales of dolphins assisting humans in distress – so with dolphin and whale populations under ever increasing threat throughout the world, I thought it was time I joined in returning the favour!
I’m still not sure why I decided to put myself through 42.195 km of agony however, but perhaps it is somehow fitting: The starting point of my chosen event, the Athens Marathon, is on the coast I first learnt to swim, scuba dive and freedive: all the time wishing I could achieve a fraction of the grace of those magnificent creatures!
So please join me in supporting WDCS in the amazing job they do for dolphins and whales all around the world: from the Morey Firth in Scotland, South America, the bay of Bengal… and the tiny island of Kalamos in Greece!
Thank you,
Leonard
