My story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On April 22 2012 I will be running the London Marathon for the second time. However this year I am hoping to raise some money for a very worthwhile cause, Combat Stress.

Combat Stress provides a dedicated service for Veterans whose mental health condition is often complex and long term. This service is NOT routinely available in the NHS or elsewhere.

A small, but significant, number of Veterans leave the Armed Forces with a severe psychological wound such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  A symptom of PTSD is the frequent tendency to recall life-threatening incidents, which can lead to day and night terrors, mood swings, panic attacks and phobias.

To find out more how Combat Stress work and how they help, please visit their website at http://www.combatstress.org.uk/pages/about_us.html.

I’m sure many people in the UK now know somebody or are related to somebody who has been or is in the Armed forces. Many of whom have been in some or all of the conflicts that have been on everyone’s lips for the past 10 -20 years. Some of those who go to these places don’t always come back in the same state as they left.

This is where Combat Stress steps up to the mark and helps those who have helped us. As an ex soldier myself, I understand the need for a charity like this and that is why I have chosen to run the London Marathon for Combat Stress.

But running the marathon isn’t quite enough, so, I decided I would run it in fancy dress. I will be dressed as a French Maid, trying to get a Guinness World Record (Fastest marathon dressed as a French Maid (Male) at the same time. Not only will this be extremely good fun it will hopefully get a little bit more recognition for the good work the charity does.

So if you think you would like to see me run the London Marathon, dressed as a French Maid while trying to get a Guinness World Record, then please donate. Both Combat Stress and I would be very grateful to all donations received, both big and small.
