I was lucky enough to attend a carol concert organised by Operation Smile in December 2014 which was both moving and life affirming. More than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition every year - meaning that they may be unable to eat, speak, smile or socialise.

Operation Smile' philosophy is to change a child's life forever through an operation that can take just 45 minutes and cost around £150.

I wanted to set myself a challenge for 2015 and decided to join a running club. They have been amazingly encouraging and supportive and so I decided I would enter the 10k as my goal with the hope of raising some money for this fantastic charity at the same time.
