Until February 2017 I was fit and healthy and I had no idea what was about to hit me. I had few symptoms apart from sudden pain in my tum and back that wouldn't go away, and until my doctor organised a blood test and then an urgent ultrasound I hadn't even thought of the possibility of Ovarian Cancer.

I am very fortunate that, because I and all the health professionals who looked after me acted so quickly, my cancer was caught at an early stage, and following major surgery and chemotherapy I have been given the all-clear. It is only subsequently I have discovered that I have the BRCA2 mutation which raises my risk of also getting breast cancer.

Ovarian Cancer can be very sneaky and hard to detect in the early stages, and I am anxious to raise awareness so that as many women as possible can be treated promptly. Ovacome is there to help and support women like me - please help them to help others.
